Building of Vantaa light rail progresses full speed ahead in December - implementation agreement signed
Building of Vantaa light rail will really get going in December 2025, when the light rail alliance’s implementation stage begins. The alliance partners signed the agreement on the implementation stage on November 26, 2025.
Puutarhatie will be closed to through traffic on November 24, 2025
Through traffic on Puutarhatie will be closed on Monday, November 24. The increased traffic on Puutarhatie has caused disturbance to local residents, and therefore we are closing it to through traffic.
Construction of the Vantaa Light Rail begins in Aviapolis this December
Work on the Vantaa Light Rail starts in Aviapolis on Dec 1. During winter, we will mainly carry out earthworks and blasting in closed areas, with no impact on airport operations. Light Rail service is planned to begin in 2029.
Vantaa Light Rail's final stop options to be planned in Helsinki Airport's core area in co-operation with Finavia
The City Council of Vantaa approved the reviewed project plan for the Vantaa Light Rail on Monday, 17 November 2025. The Vantaa light rail alliance and Finavia will work together to develop a plan for the placement options of the final stop at the airport.

A new plan for the airport terminus will be drawn in 2026. The decision on extending the tram line will be made in 2027.
Northern end of Kuriirikuja will be closed to vehicle traffic starting November 10th 2025
Preparatory works on Kuriirikuja will begin on November 10th. The northern end of Kuriirikuja will be closed to vehicle traffic between Staffaksenkuja and Tikkurilantie. The pedestrian and bicycle route will be redirected to the west side of Kuriirikuja.

Preparatory work for the Vantaa light rail will start in mid-November on Länsimäentie, near the bridge crossing Highway 7 (Porvoonväylä). The work is expected to continue until the end of 2025 and, if necessary, into January. Work will be carried out on weekdays between 7–18.
Geotechnical fieldwork related to the Vantaa Light Rail project will begin in early November 2025 on Länsimäentie, in the areas of Vantaa and Helsinki
In early November, trial ground stabilization will start on Länsimäentie at the border between Vantaa and Helsinki. The purpose of these tests is to determine the most suitable and cost-effective soil reinforcement method for the area before the main construction begins. Work will start in week 45

The P1 park-and-ride facility located on Ratatie, north of Tikkurila Station, will be closed during the week starting October 27.
