Pedestrian and cycling detour on Kyytitie between the eastern edge of Heidehof Park and Kanervantie

The pedestrian and cycling route on the south side of Kyytitie will be closed between the eastern edge of Heidehof Park and Kanervantie from 1 December 2025 to 30 January 2026. The underpass on Kyytitie, located east of the Heidehof roundabout, will remain open. The detour for pedestrians and cyclists will follow the illuminated recreational path on the north side of Kyytitie. The pedestrian crossing at Tukkukaupankuja will also remain open.

Tree felling between Kanervantie and Old Porvoo Road

Preparation work also begins between Kanervantie and Old Porvoo Road, where trees will be removed from the north side of the pedestrian and cycle path and from the green strip between the path and the roadway. The trees stand where the future light rail line will be built. Short safety-related interruptions may occur on the path.

Central island removed between Old Porvoo Road and Salpakuja

Work will also begin on the section Old Porvoo Road – Salpakuja, where the central island between traffic lanes will be removed and the area asphalted. The number of traffic lanes will remain unchanged.
At the same time, the pedestrian and cycling path on the north side of the Kyytitie section between Old Porvoo Road and Salpakuja will be closed and turned into a construction area. Preparations for upcoming works will be carried out, including relocating district heating pipes, managing water flow, and installing temporary lighting.

Night work at the Kyytitie – Old Porvoo Road intersection in December

In December, light rail builders will work at night at the Kyytitie–Old Porvoo Road intersection to avoid disturbing car traffic. Builders will relocate and renew underground utilities such as district heating pipes and electricity and data cables. The work will not cause noise exceeding normal construction levels.

Push-button pedestrian crossings to improve school safety

Pedestrian crossings with push-button traffic lights will be installed next to the Kesko access on Kyytitie and approximately 200 metres north of the intersection on Old Porvoo Road. The goal is to improve schoolchildren’s safety on their way to Kuusikko School.

A new temporary sidewalk will also be built near Sammaltie 10 to allow children to walk safely from the bus stop to the school.

In January, work will continue on all the sections described above. In addition, a new construction area will be established between Porttisuontie and Lahdenväylä. More information will be provided in December.
Construction work in the Kyytitie area will last throughout the light rail project until 2029 and will cause periodically changing detours. Some work stages may cause noise. We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
