Construction of the Vantaa Light Rail begins on 1 December 2025 in Heidehof Park and continues east along Kyytitie
According to the plans, construction of the Vantaa light rail will begin in Heidehof Park and on Kyytitie on December 1. 2025. We will hold a residents’ meeting about the upcoming street works for the light rail at Kuusikko School (Hovitie 11) in October at 18–19 o'clock. Coffee will be served starting at 17.30. You are warmly welcome to hear more about the project and discuss how the construction will affect the area.
Construction of the Vantaa Light Rail will begin on 1 December 2025 in Heidehof Park. The work will soon expand to Kyytitie and will overall continue for several years. We will organize a public information event at Kuusikko School on 21 October 2025.
The first stage of the work involves preparatory activities related to the construction of a gas pipeline. In Heidehof Park, excavation work for the gas lines and tree felling will take place. The work will cause occasional noise. A fenced construction area will be established in the park, and access to this area will be prohibited during construction. A temporary access road will also be built to the site.
The work starting in the park will extend to Kyytitie, where in addition to constructing the gas pipeline, existing underground utilities and cables will be relocated. Due to the street works, pedestrian and bicycle routes will be redirected to temporary paths. We will provide more detailed information about the routes and traffic arrangements in November, well before the start of the construction work.
Construction in the Kyytitie area will continue throughout the light rail project until 2029 and will cause changing temporary traffic arrangements in the area over time.

Vantaa Light Rail service scheduled to begin in 2029
Vantaa Light Rail is one of the City of Vantaa’s strategic spearhead projects, aiming to provide smooth and environmentally friendly modes of transportation in the area. Preparatory work has been underway since spring. At Tikkurila Station, we have already completed most of this year’s rail service interruptions, during which we prepared for the construction of the light rail tunnel. Full-scale construction is set to begin in December, following the City Council’s approval of the updated project plan.
