Construction of the Vantaa Light Rail on Länsimäentie during the Christmas–New Year holiday period, 29–31 December
Construction work on the Vantaa Light Rail along Länsimäentie in the area of the bridge crossing Porvoonväylä will continue during the holiday period 29–31 December. Preparatory work for the construction of the new bridge will be carried out in the area, which will require some traffic lanes to be temporarily closed. Walking and cycling routes will also have temporary obstacles that require attention throughout the work phases.
Impacts on walking and cycling
Excavation work will be carried out on and near the pedestrian and bicycle route that runs south from Länsimäentie toward Porvoonväylä. During certain work phases, the route will be narrowed as necessary. Please follow the signage in the area and slow down when cycling.
Impacts on vehicle traffic
On the north side of the bridge crossing Porvoonväylä, preparatory works related to the new bridge construction will be carried out. Work will take place from 29–31 December between 7:00 and 18:00. For safety reasons, one traffic lane at a time will be closed on Länsimäentie. At times, all traffic may need to be stopped briefly. If possible, heavy vehicles are advised to use the detour routes, if possible.
Follow signage and reserve extra time for travel
Several temporary traffic and access arrangements are in place along Länsimäentie, so you should allow extra travel time when moving through the area. Safe detour routes have been arranged, and we recommend following the posted signage. The detour routes and traffic control are illustrated on the map below.
