The bridge over Porvoonväylä on Länsimäentie (Västerkullavägen) will become single-lane starting 2 February 2026 – construction work will cause special noise in the area.
Construction of a new bridge over Porvoonväylä will begin at the location of the current bridge. The work will start with the building of temporary support walls, including excavation and sheet piling. These works will cause special noise in the surrounding area. Due to the construction, the bridge over Porvoonväylä will be reduced to one lane and controlled by traffic lights.
The bridge will be single-lane from 2 February 2026
Vehicle traffic over the bridge will be reduced to one lane and controlled by traffic signals. The estimated duration of the work is about two (2) months. Traffic coming from the direction of Helsinki should note that left turns from the ramp will be prohibited during the works. Access to Länsimäentie toward Fazerintie is via the Maratontie roundabout. Traffic control will be provided at the start of the project.
Alternative routes during the works are via Maratontie, Ring III or Itäväylä. Detailed traffic arrangements are shown on the map below.
Construction work will cause special noise from 3 February 2026.
Preparatory works for the new bridge over Porvoonväylä will begin in February on Länsimäentie, next to the existing bridge. Sheet piling and anchor drilling will cause special noise in the area. The areas where work causing special noise is carried out are marked on the map below.
The work starts on Monday, 2 February 2026. Noise-generating phases are expected to last about three weeks. Piling, anchoring, blasting and rock splitting will take place occasionally during normal working hours on weekdays from 7:00 to 18:00.
